I just wanted to take a minute and let everyone know about the newest fly shop in Grayling, MI. Andy Partlo has opened the Old AuSable Fly Shop in the the former Fly Factory building on the banks of the main branch. Andy has always been a straight shooter when it came to helping a guy to figure out where the fish are, and with the new shop, this fact continues. I’ve been in several shopd through the years where information is VERY hard to come by. I realize that a secret hole should stay secret, but there are a bunch of well know holes that with a little heads up, can give a group a guys a night they will never forget. Not only is Andy a great guy, his entire staff appears to be cut from the same cloth. Every member of teh staff was helpful, and a just a real good guy to talk to. I highly recommend a visit to the shop.
Caught my first fish of the new year. Actually, I caught several bass out of my pond. The fish aren’t real big, but I’ll take them.

I can’t ask for a better set of kids. I don’t know about you, but I can honestly say that my kids are great. No calls from school, very little if any trouble around the house. I know part of it is the way that my wife and I have raised them, but I also know that a big reason for our success is the influence of Christ and His church. Our kids lives are centered on the church and along with it the church school. A Christ centered life is the key to a good life, and more importantly a good eternal life. Raise up your kids to fear and love God, and you will have kids that you can be proud of!

Saturday morning Nov. 3rd and look what I saw in my backyard!!
Now that’s a nice 8 pointer. It turned out he was following a beautiful young lady around the woods. As I watched the two of them, I was able to sneak up and get with 20 yards!! My photos in the woods stunk, so I don’t have any shots from that. After watching them for a bit longer, they both looked to the east. When I looked, there was a second buck that was just as big!!!
I used to hunt every fall, and I have to admit that this got me wishing I had a bow in my hand. I think I’ll have to take up deer photography to replace the actual hunting. Man what a day!

Took the fly rod out to my pond and had a great time!! The bass were hungry and banged away at my G.G. Froggie pattern. There was a storm front just south of the house that dumped 5-6 inches of rain!
Saw a beautiful, yet a bit of a bummer site today. The geese are beginning to head south. 
Winter will be here before you know it. I’ll keep fishing until it’s just too cold.
I’m back from camp, and it was another GREAT time with the guys!!
We had another great meeting in the North Woods of Michigan. The numbers were down to 22 guys, but we still had a great time. We hope the move of the dates back to the normal week will help next years meeting.

I have such a bad itch for the woods that I can’t hardly stand it!
Sometime in the near future I’ll be in the woods, back where I’m most happy. One of these days Jan and I will head north and not return to Indiana. I hope that it’s not too many days!
